A circle journal is a scrapbook in which a group of friends or colleagues contributes pages. Typically, one member of the group initiates the proceedings by making a page. She then collects the layouts of others in her circle and adds finishing touches to give the project a cohesive look. Here's what Heidi Swapp, the fifth member of a hardy band of scrapbookers who journeyed together to South Africa, did to document the groups trip (see Stacy Julians feature, "Out of Africa," July/August 2006).
